Frequently Asked Questions
How much bulk trash will the City of Dallas pick up at the curb?
City of Dallas Sanitation Services collects up to 10 cubic yards of combined brush and bulky household items once per month during your designated BABIC week. Items may be placed out no earlier than Thursday before your collection week and must be at the curb by 7:00 a.m. Monday.
Can Dallas residents dump for free at McCommas Bluff Landfill?
Yes. City of Dallas residents with a valid Texas driver’s license and current Dallas utility bill showing a matching Dallas address can drop off residential household waste and bulky items for free in a personal car, SUV, or standard pickup truck at McCommas Bluff Landfill (5100 Youngblood Rd) or the Bachman and Fair Oaks Transfer Stations.
Does Dallas bulky trash pickup take construction or remodeling debris?
No. Dallas BABIC strictly prohibits construction, demolition, and remodeling materials such as drywall, lumber, tile, cabinets, bricks, and roofing shingles at the curb. Use a 10- to 20-yard roll-off dumpster or book a private junk hauling crew for remodel debris.
Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Dallas, TX?
No city permit is needed when a roll-off dumpster sits entirely on your private driveway. Placing a container on a public street, alley, or sidewalk requires a City of Dallas Department of Public Works Right-of-Way (ROW) Street/Lane Closure & Traffic Control Permit with state-approved reflective barricades.
